  • The student will identify what makes a house a home.
  • The student will know and understand the elements of design.
  • The student will know and understand the principles of design.
  • The student will apply knowledge of managing finances in housing decisions.
  • The student will know and identify furniture styles.
  • The student will understand criteria in selecting quality furniture.
  • The student will identify housing styles.
  • The student will distinguish appropriate type, use, design and background materials.
  • The student will identify window designs and their application in housing construction.
  • The student will choose appropriate window treatments.
  • The student will choose appropriate wall treatments such as paint, wallpaper, faux finishing.
  • The student will arrange furniture in a functional and attractive form.
  • The student will understand different forms of lighting and their application.
  • The student will select and arrange appropriate accessories in keeping with space, form and decor.
  • The student will be able to design an effective, functional kitchen.
  • The student will read a floor plan and understand its symbols.
  • The student will understand the home purchasing process and the financing options.
  • The student will research and identify careers in housing and interior design.
  • The student will apply design principles in designing an interior living space.
