The District 196 Food and Nutrition Services Department will be serving free meals for children this summer at four school sites and two neighborhood locations in Apple Valley and Eagan. All children ages 18 and under who show up during serving times will receive a free meal; there is no income eligibility requirement. The Summer Food Service Program is funded by the USDA. The goal of the program is to help as many children as possible get the nutritious meals they need during the summer when they are not attending school. The locations include the Cedar Knolls mobile home community, Cedar Park Elementary STEM School and Dakota Ridge School in Apple Valley; Echo Park Elementary School of Leadership, Engineering and Technology in Burnsville; and Cinnamon Ridge Park and Oak Ridge Elementary School of Leadership, Environmental and Health Sciences in Eagan. Dates and serving times vary by location. For a complete schedule of the free summer meals program, click here.
