Congratulations to Chancellor Farmer and Kristen Burns, who will represent Rosemount at the State Speech Tournament in April!
The two advanced to state by finishing in the top three of their categories at the Section 3AA Speech Tournament on March 21.
Chancellor is the section champion in extemporaneous reading, a category where students draw an excerpt of a short story from a hat and have 30 minutes to prepare a reading of the literature. Kristen finished third in great speeches, a category where students analyze a historical speech, explaining its importance and impact, while also performing excerpts of the speech.
Three other students advanced to finals at the section tournament. Erica Baumann placed fifth in storytelling, AJ Tabura placed fifth in oratory (persuasive speaking) and Alexis Johnson placed seventh in dramatic interpretation.
The State AA Speech Tournament will be April 20 at Apple Valley High School.
