Dear Rosemount Community,
The Rosemount High School Concert Choir has been invited and accepted an invitation to become a partner school in the 2017–2018 VocalEssence ¡Cantaré! Program. VocalEssence ¡Cantaré! is a unique program designed to bring the talents of composers from Mexico directly into Minnesota classrooms.
For the 2017–2018 school year, high schools are planned to partner with another renowned composer from Mexico–past composers have included Jorge Cózatl, José Galván and Novelli Jurado. The composer will initially meet with students for one week in Fall 2017, provide new music written specifically for those schools in Winter 2017–18, and work directly with students to refine the performance of their works for two weeks in Spring 2018. The program will culminate in a community concert where all choirs perform their works at the Ordway Center for the Performing Arts on Tuesday, May 22, 2018. The proposed timeline is as follows (this is subject to change):
September 2017: VocalEssence ¡Cantaré! Teacher Orientation Seminar
October 9–17, 2017: First composer residency
December 1, 2017: Composers submit music for choirs to rehearse
March 12–23, 2018: Second composer residency
May 15–22, 2018: Final composer residency and community concert
Tuesday, May 22, 2018, 7pm: VocalEssence ¡Cantaré! Community Concert, The Ordway Center for the Performing Arts
