RHS Mock Car Crash Awareness

April 24, 2017

Dear Rosemount High School Parents,

With prom and graduation approaching, a large partnering effort is underway to be proactive in delivering a powerful and compelling message to our students. The message is simple: Don't drink (or use drugs) and drive.

In an effort to send a strong message to our students, we have planned several activities. On Thursday, May 11, 2017, from 8:30 – 10:15 a.m., we will present a dramatic Car Crash Simulation in our north parking lot. This presentation will be for juniors and seniors only. At the same time, we will be presenting to 9th and 10th grade students an anti-drinking/driving program in the high school gymnasium. This program features a keynote speaker discussing personal responsibility and positive decision making and detailed stories from speakers who have lost family members. While these modalities combine to make the program effective, the content may be strong for some individuals. Should you feel that your son or daughter may be negatively affected by this program, please contact the Guidance Office (651–423–7517) so that we may provide an alternative activity for your child.

Important – To accommodate the Car Crash Simulation and for student safety, on Thursday, May 11, 2017 no through traffic will be allowed on 142nd Street from 8:00 – 10:30 a.m. The 142nd Street school entrance will be closed to the east at Highway 3 and to the west at the intersection of 143rd Street and Chili Avenue. In addition, students will not be permitted to leave campus during this time. We apologize for this inconvenience, but thank you in advance for scheduling appointments, etc. around this activity.

Following the presentation, your child will have the opportunity to participate in follow-up activities in his/her classroom. In case of inclement weather, an activity will be held for all students utilizing classrooms and the gymnasium.
