The National Center for Women & Information Technology (NCWIT) has chosen to honor RHS Computer Science Teacher, Dr. TJ Reinartz, with the 2016 NCWIT Aspirations in Computing Educator Award!
The Educator Award is conferred upon educators that have demonstrated a commitment to encouraging young women's aspirations in computing. RHS Math Teacher Brian Fendrich was recognized with this honor last year. Educator Award winners are honored at the regional Affiliate ceremonies of the NCWIT Award for Aspirations in Computing. The Minnesota Affiliate event will be held on April 19, 2016.
Excerpt from NCWIT message to Dr. Reinartz: Young women represent a promising source of technical talent, yet are woefully underrepresented in computing. Great teachers are one of the most important factors in inspiring young women to engage with technology in meaningful ways and pursue technical careers. We thank you for all you have done to make computing a reality and we look forward to seeing your students among our Award applicants and recipients for years to come.
