Student Learnings: What students should know and be able to do

  • Understand and demonstrate the functional operation of the 2 stroke and the 4 stroke cycle engines.
  • Demonstrate understanding of standard systems of fuel, cooling, carburetion, ignition and lubrication.
  • Demonstrate proper safety procedures when working with small gas engines, including proper disposal of liquids and parts.
  • Demonstrate correct and accurate procedures in engine measurement.
  • Demonstrate safe and proper use of tools used in engine maintenance.
  • Demonstrate safe and proper procedures in engine troubleshooting, service and maintenance.
  • Evaluate career opportunities connected to the small gas engine industry.
