The Vikings have signed veteran NFL kickoff specialist Rhys Lloyd, who played his prep football at Eastview High School and kicked collegiately at the University of Minnesota following a pair of seasons at Rochester Community and Technical College.

Lloyd spent 2008 and 2009 with Carolina where he handled kickoff duties for the Panthers. In 2008 he led the NFL with a career-best 30 touchbacks, the most in the NFL since the move to the K-ball. Lloyd followed that with 21 touchbacks in 2009, tied for the 6th-most in the NFL.

In 2007, Lloyd was an All-NFL Europa selection while playing for the Frankfurt Galaxy when he led the league in scoring. Lloyd originally signed with Baltimore in 2005 as a rookie free agent. Lloyd played for the Gophers in 2003-04 after 2 seasons at RCTC.
