Eastview Alum Erik Fabry at Carleton

Carleton freshman Erik Fabry (Apple Valley, Minn./Eastview) was one of only five first-year players in the nation to receive All-Region status. He punted 36 times with 12 of those kicks landing inside the 15-yard line, including nine inside the 10-yard line. He had pair of 54-yard punts, including one out of his own end zone in the 17-14 win over No. 13 Bethel on Sept. 20. Fabry also served as the team’s primary kick and punt returner, averaging 17.7 and 4.5 yards in those roles to rank among the conference leaders in both categories. In addition to his efforts on special teams, he also started twice when Matt Frank was injured, finishing with 18 receptions for 201 yards, an average of 11.2 yards per catch.

Earlier this year, he was named to the D3football.com and MIAC Team of the Week for the third week of the 2008 season. Fabry helped Carleton notch one of the biggest victories in the program's history, posting a 17-14 triumph at #13 Bethel University with his work on special teams. Fabry pinned the Royals inside the 15-yard line three times with his punts, including one downed at the 4-yard line. His final punt of the afternoon was the most important though. Bethel had just scored touchdowns on consecutive drives to take the lead, then pinned Carleton back on its own 1-yard line. Punting from his own endzone, Fabry unleashed a booming 54-yard punt that created a momentum shift. The Royals immediately went three-and-out, setting the stage for the Knights' game-winning, fourth-quarter touchdown drive. Fabry averaged 39.2 yards/punt on his five punts.
