Course Description:
The 4Cast is a 55 minute course for students interested in television broadcasting. We will create a daily newscast that airs live throughout Eastview High School. You will have the opportunity to learn camera techniques, audio, teleprompting, graphics, editing, lighting, interviewing, reporting, script writing, anchoring, producing and directing.

Assessment:
Your assessment will be broken down by the following categories:

1. Newscast Proficiency Performance (40%):
Displays competency in work area.
Displays creativity in assignments.
Manages time well.
2. Outside work/Story Completion (30%):
Performs and Completes packages/stories on time.
Acts for the good of the entire group.
3. Teamwork and Group Communication Skills (20%):
Works well with others.
Respects equipment.
Arrives on time ready to learn.
4. Portfolio (10%):
Shows improvement through portfolio.
Gives back to the community.

How Do I Receive an A In This Class?
Follow the expectations of the class: Come to class prepared every day on time. Finish your stories on time. Respect everyone and everything in the classroom. Respect the time given to you during this class period. Do the work and try your hardest. Be honest in everything you do. Get involved and have fun.

* You must complete your portfolio assessment and do one community service project to receive an A in this class.

If you meet all of these criteria, the rest will take care of itself.

Expectations:
1. Be in the Multi-Media Suite by the beginning of class ready to learn.
2. All stories and segments must be completed 24 hours before their projected air date. Get them done early.
3. After being absent, it is your responsibility to check with your classmates and check the progress on your segment.
4. Please do not bring food or drink into the TV Studio area at any time.
5. You are expected to keep a resume tape of all segments you contributed to the finished product. You are also responsible to finish your portfolio folder by the assigned date.
6. Take care of the studio and its equipment. Please do not alter the computers in any way (download software, files, etc.) without permission from the instructors.
