My first project was a "Self Portrait", which I did by sort of smashing together a bunch of things that I like. I found that the project wasn't very challenging because it didn't have many restrictions as to what I could do with it, which is hugely different from the rest of the projects I did over the quarter. To create this, I had to learn a lot about the clone tool, gradients and masks. I also had the opportunity to explore a lot of the filter effects, which was fun and interesting. For my second project, I created a 1940's-style advertisement for Coca-Cola. The image of the woman was taken from an actual ad, and then I manipulated it to fit my project better. I used real slogans, as well as creating a newspaper article about how Coke "Refreshes America" to make the whole thing more realistic, especially for the 40's. I didn't enjoy this project as much as the first because I felt like it was a lot less interesting, and I didn't get to use many tools or effects. Click to enlarge the image!

Mouse over this one! My third project was manipulating a picture, and I chose to remove myself from an image of me with two of my cousins last summer. While this project was fun, it was also time consuming. I had to use the clone stamp tool to reconstruct the entire bench behind me. Beyond that, I also modified the colors of the image to make the difference a little more prominent. I changed the colors of my cousins' hair and clothes, as well as the trees in the background. My final project basically consisted of me goofing around with all of the effects I wanted to. I used liquefy on the tree, and a gradient on the piano keys, which gave me a better sense for how to use both tools. Other than that, it's just a lot of images that I thought were neat, thrown together into one scene. With this project, I tried to create balance in the image while still having a lot going on, and it was probably the most interesting of the projects I did in Multimedia A. Click to enlarge the image!
