Debate	Speech
		Since freshman year I've been participating in the debate team, in both the Classic and Public Forum formats. It's been a really good experience for me because it's developed my ability to speak in public, as well as come up with arguments on the spot. It took a lot of research to be successful in debate though, with topics like China's inflated currency and illegal immigration. Debate has helped me to stay more on top of current events around the world though, and I really love that about it.	I joined the speech team this year, and I was in Discussion. There are tons of speech categories, and the styles vary greatly. Some participants may write and perform a fictional story of their own, whereas others give an impromptu speech on a current event. Discussion wasn't my ideal category, but I did enjoy a lot about it. I learned about how to work with people and come to a concensus over a global issue. Next year I'm switching to a category where I can be more creative and have more fun.
