MOST IMPROVED PLAYER This is the person who has made the most progress over the entire season. From the very beginning of the season in November to the last game of the season, this player has displayed the most improvement
LIGHTNING AWARD Through thought, voice, and action, this award winner is a person who believes, promotes, and role models the guiding principles of Eastview High School. The Lightning Award winner is a leader in the classroom, the athletic arena , and throughout the community. The Lightning Award winner believes teamwork is important and understands the resources and talents of a focused group make everything possible.
SIXTH MAN AWARD This is the player who is among the regular starting five, but found an important role in coming off the bench. His contributions to the success of the team are both tangible and intangible. This person knew his role, accepted his role, and performed well in his role. This person was a supremely important ingredient to the overall success of the team.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER AWARD This is the person who provided the Eastview varsity with the best defense throughout the season. This person may or may not have led his team in steals or other statistical categories. However this person could be counted on game in and game out to guard the other team's top player(s); and most most importnatly understood and demonstrated the philosophy of Lightning team defense and performed the fundamentals of sound team defense on a nightly basis as taught by the coaches.
HUSTLE AWARD The hustle award is given annually to the varsity player that accumulated the most hustle points for the season. Hustle points are a statistical measure of a player’s work ethic on the floor during games. An arbitrary point value is awarded for such categories as floor burns, deflections, charges drawn, steals, rebounds, out of bounds saves, being physical, block shots, etc.
LIGHTNING SPIRIT AWARD This player is the one who consistently had the most enthusiasm, spirit, and encouragement for his teammates. This person could be counted on and trusted to encourage and push his teammates in both practice and games. He continually celebrated his teammates' successes as though they were above any individual success he could attain on his own. This player is not necessarily a varsity player, but plays an important role to the overall morale of the team in general.
ALL CONFERENCE AWARDS This award goes to the player selected by the Lake Conference coaches for their excellence in varsity basketball.
ALL CONFERENCE HONORABLE MENTION This award goes to the player selected for their excellent season in the Lake Conference.
OUTSTANDING SCHOLAR ATHLETE This award goes to the outstanding student and basketball player. This award was selected by the coaches based on academic success in the classroom.
ALL-METRO AWARD This award goes to the player selected by the Metro coaches for their excellence in varsity basketball during the season.
ALL-METRO HONORABLE MENTION AWARD This award goes to the player selected by the Metro coaches for their excellence in varsity basketball during the season.
ALL-METRO DEFENSIVE AWARD This award goes to the player selected by the Metro coaches for their excellence in defense during the varsity basketball season.
ACADEMIC ALL-STATE AWARD This award goes to the player selected by Minnesota coaches for their excellence in academics.
