The genesis of the South Suburban Conference took place in the fall of 2009 as nine schools left the Lake Conference. The official start of the conference is July 1, 2010.
Apple Valley, Bloomington Jefferson, Bloomington Kennedy, Burnsville, Eagan, Eastview, Lakeville North, Lakeville South and Rosemount high schools departed the Lake Conference and added Prior Lake High School, from the Missota, to create a ten school conference based primarily on locations south and west of the Minnesota River.
The South Suburban Conference is one of the premier high school conferences in the state of Minnesota. Member schools field a full complement of 30 interscholastic sports and 14 Fine Arts activities.
The mission of the South Suburban Conference is to promote and recognize excellence by providing quality experiences for students in Fine Arts, Academics and Athletics.
The South Suburban Conference conducts its activities under the auspices of and in concert with the Minnesota State High School League (www.mshsl.org).
The policies and actions of the South Suburban Conference are the responsibilities of the following standing committees: Athletics Directors and Activities Directors who work under the direction of the Executive Committee.
