District 196 is one of Minnesota's largest and fastest growing
suburban school districts, covering 110 square miles in northern Dakota County,
Minnesota, fifteen miles south of the Twin Cities or Minneapolis and St. Paul.
In a community of more than 100,000, nearly 28,000 students are served in 18
elementary schools, six middle schools, and four high schools, the School of
Environmental Studies (an optional high school) and an Alternative Learning
Center. District 196 students and programs have earned frequent academic and
cocurricular recognition at the state and national level; and, six of the district's
schools have been recognized as National Schools of Excellence.
