Good web design attracts the audience to the site and keeps them there. Animations,
sound and video can be used effectively to enhance web pages without distracting
from the content.
Understand that bandwidth limitations can keep portions of your audience from
loading multimedia quickly or effectively. If you plan on using multimedia,
provide alternatives for those web users that are using slower connections.
Audio - audio can be captured, compressed and used fairly easily.
Slide Shows - an easy way to combine images and music. Since there is no moving
video, the frame rate can be quite low and your file sizes will be smaller.
Video - For your web pages, use only compressed and streaming video. We will
use Windows Media Encoder to create streaming .wmv files for your video poetry,
public service announcements and 3D animations.
Animations - Use an animated GIF to provide a simple moving image on a page.
For something more complex, you may use a Flash or other type of vector-based
animation.
