~THE MEMORANDUM~

By Vaclav Havel

~Josef Gross arrives to work one day and finds a memo on his desk written in an unfamilar language. Struggling to uncover the memo's content, Gross discovers his workplace has been turned upside down by a new language, developed by his devious assistant, ment to make business communication more precise.
~Vaclav Havel, the man who went from political prisoner to a leader of a revolution and president of the Czech Republic, wrote this play to mock the bureaucracy of communism. Though communist Prauge may not seem very relevant to our lives here today, many will be able to identify with the plight of Josef Gross as he struggles to cope with the absurdities and politics of the workplace.
