Rosemount High School Golf Coach Hall of Fame Recipient

The Minnesota High School Golf Coaches Association is proud to announce its Hall of Fame class for the year 2018. This year's recipient is Rosemount girls golf coach Barry Wallin. Coach Wallin will be inducted at the class AAA state tournament banquet June 11 at the Earle Brown Heritage Center in Brooklyn Park.

Coach Wallin has coached the Rosemount girls golf teams for 28 years. He is a 3–time Section Girls Golf Coach of the Year (2009, 2014, 2017), and a 2–time MN State Girls Golf Coach of the Year (2009, 2014). His teams have won two Section 3AAA tournament championships (2014, 2017), and since 2005, has coached the RHS girls varsity squad to a 70% winning average. In the last 10 years, RHS girls have qualified for the MN State High School Girls Golf tournament 22 times, and 12 players have gone on to play collegiate golf.

Professionally, he is a lifetime member of the MN State High School Coaches Association, and has been a member of the MN State Golf Coach's Advisory Committee since 2012. He is the Director of Golf Instruction at Emerald Greens Golf Course, in Hastings, MN. To further his knowledge of golf, Coach Wallin joined the PGA of America as an apprentice in 2009, and was elected to full Class A membership in 2014.

Coach Wallin created the Rosemount Girls Golf Futures Club in 1997 to promote girls golf in the Rosemount area, and is co–founder of the Summer Fun Golf Camps, which currently serve over 350 youth every summer at Emerald Greens Golf Course. Coach Wallin also created a fundraising program for local boys and girls high school golf programs (The Dakota County Golf Coaches Discount Card) that to date, has helped raise more than $240,000 for participating schools' golf programs.
