Flex Day – November 2, 2017

October 25, 2017

We will conduct our second Irish Flex Day for Fall Trimester on Thursday, November 2. The purpose of this list serve is to share some of the details regarding Flex Days.

In order to increase student success in their classes and to expose students to topics of academic importance outside of the classroom, Rosemount High School will be hosting six Irish Flex Days over the course of the 2017–2018 school year. All of the district high schools will be providing these flex days for students during the 2017–2018 school year. On these days, students will be provided with fifty minutes of Enrichment/Intervention time. Students in need of extra help with their class work will be provided Intervention time where they will work with one of their teachers to review concepts and/or make up missed work.

Students not needing Intervention time may attend an Enrichment session, if invited, which will focus on a timely academic topic of interest. Prior to our Irish Flex Day, Thursday, November 2, students needing Intervention time will be issued a pass by their classroom teacher who wishes to work with them. On Irish Flex Day morning, classes will be shortened to allow for Intervention and Enrichment time.

On Thursday, November 2, teachers will invite students from grades 9–12, they wish to work with individually, for intervention or enrichment sessions and students are to report to that teacher's homeroom location at 7:30am for Flex Day period. Attendance will be taken.

All 9th and 10th grade students not directly invited by a teacher are to report to their assigned homeroom location and teacher at 7:30am for a silent study hall.

All 11th and 12th grade students not invited by a teacher may report to the Student Center for a Study Hall OR may choose to report to school for 1st period which begins at 8:30am. Any 11th and 12th grade students invited by a teacher to work with them should report to that teacher's homeroom location, but attendance before 1st period begins at 8:30am is otherwise not required.

At 8:30am we will begin with our adjusted morning schedule for periods 1–4 where each period will be approximately 35 minutes. Periods 5–7 will run according to our normal schedule.
