Dear Rosemount High School Community Members,

March is another important month at Rosemount High School. It marks the end of the Winter Trimester and the start of Spring Trimester. Final exams for winter trimester will take place on Wednesday, March 8 (for periods 2, 4, 5, and 6) and Thursday, March 9 (for periods 1, 3, 5, and 7). Winter trimester report cards are scheduled to be posted in School View on Thursday, March 23. Let's all encourage our students to work hard to finish up all Winter Trimester work in the days leading up to final exams.

Friday, March 10 is Teacher Workshop Day and there is no school for students. Teachers will spend that day working on wrapping up winter trimester and preparing for spring trimester. Spring trimester starts on Monday, March 13. Students will start the new trimester in home room, where Spring Trimester Schedules will be distributed. Spring Break is also scheduled for this month, starting on Monday, March 27 and continuing through Friday March 31.

Spring is also the time when many of our Juniors take their college entrance exams. Many Rosemount High School students take the ACT. During the fall counseling presentations, students received information about Naviance Test Prep, an ACT Online Prep program, that allows them to review and take practice tests via Family Connection. Parents of Juniors can expect an email summary of this information this week. Remember, our entire junior class will be taking the ACT at school on Wednesday, April 19. Juniors and their families can look for an email from Assistant Principal Kim Budde with more information about the April 19 ACT soon. The final 2016–2017 national ACT testing date is June 10.

District 196 will host a College Fair, sponsored by the Minnesota Association of College Admission Counselors (MACAC). The District 196 College Fair will be held at Rosemount High School on Tuesday, March 21, from 4 – 6:00 p.m. Approximately 115 public and private colleges and universities, community and technical colleges, proprietary schools and military organizations will be represented at the fair. This is the eighth year that District 196 has hosted this event. This regional college fair event gives students and parents an opportunity to explore a variety of options for post–high school education, technical training or military service. Instead of filling out numerous cards for each college you are interested at the college fair, you can now use a barcode to give colleges your information. When you are talking with a college representative, just ask them if they can 'scan' your barcode. Simply go to www.gotocollegefairs.com, select the fair you will be attending, enter your personal information and print off your barcode. More information about the fair at www.mn–acac.org. Click on "College Fairs", to learn more about the event. Admission to the college fair is free.

The Rosemount High School Counseling Department is hosting Going to College Night in our Performing Arts Center at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 4. This program provides you with the opportunity to hear from a diverse panel of seniors regarding their experiences in the college search process. Hear what worked and did not work, and what they wish they would have known going into the process so freshmen, sophomores and juniors can make the most of their college search experience. Join us on April 4th!

March is the month where winter activities come to a close and spring activities begin. Our best wishes go out to all winter activity participants who are still performing. Several teams and individuals advanced to state competition. Our congratulations go out to all of our winter activity participants who dedicated so much of their time and effort. Our congratulations to all of our athletes who have accomplished great things and conducted themselves so well in their activities throughout the winter! Thanks also, to all of you, for supporting our students in their activities during the winter trimester!

Let's all work together to give our students maximum support during these important weeks as we finish off winter trimester and kick off the final trimester of the year. Let's help our students finish this current term and start the Spring Trimester with the same enthusiasm they had back in September. Finally, when Spring Break rolls around later this month, on behalf of the entire Rosemount High School faculty and staff, I wish each and every one of you a relaxing break!
