LobbyGuard - Visitor Management Solution

November 10, 2016

Dear Rosemount High School families,

Beginning Tuesday, November 15, 2016, we will begin using a new electronic sign-in system for everyone who visits Rosemount High School during the school day. The LobbyGuard system was piloted at Apple Valley High School last year and will be installed at every school in our district this fall as part of safety and security improvements included in the bond referendum that was approved by district voters last year.

Under the new system, all visitors will be asked to show a government-issued identification (driver's license, passport or military ID) if they wish to leave the main entrance area to enter another part of the school. The LobbyGuard system checks each visitor's name against the national sex offender database only, takes a photo of the visitor, then prints an adhesive nametag that includes the visitor's name and photo. Visitors are required to wear the nametag at all times while they are in the building and return it to the security desk to sign out before leaving.

If a visitor does not have any form of government-issued identification, a school staff member will talk with them about the reason for their visit before deciding whether to issue them a visitor nametag.

The LobbyGuard sign-in system will make our school an even safer place by ensuring identification of every visitor who is in the building at any given time during the school day. All staff members wear a district-issued identification badge and are instructed to question any adult in the building who does not have a nametag issued by the LobbyGuard system.

If you have questions or concerns about our new electronic sign-in system, please contact me at 651-423-7501.

Sincerely,

John Wollersheim, Principal
