The National Center for Women & Information Technology (NCWIT) is thrilled to recognize Rosemount High School math teacher Brian Fendrich with the NCWIT Aspirations in Computing Educator Award! The NCWIT also thanks Brian for his support and encouragement of young women's interest in computing and information technology.
The Educator Award is conferred upon educators that have demonstrated a commitment to encouraging young women's aspirations in computing. As a recipient of the Educator Award, Brian will receive an engraved commemorative trophy and one for his school, up to $1,000 of expense reimbursement for computing-related professional development activities, and a Sphero robotic educational toy provided by NCWIT member organization, Sphero.
NCWIT notes that young women represent a promising source of technical talent, yet are woefully underrepresented in computing. Great teachers are one of the most important factors in inspiring young women to engage with technology in meaningful ways and pursue technical careers. NCWIT looks forward to seeing Brian's students among their award applicants and winners for years to come.
Brian wishes to recognize his colleague and fellow Rosemount High School teaching partner, T.J. Reinartz, who has also dedicated himself to increasing the participation of young women in the study of computer science.
