Rosemount High School is proud to announce that Assistant Principal Kimberly Budde has been selected as the Minnesota Association of Secondary School Principal's, Minnesota Assistant Principal of the Year.
Earlier in the year, Kim had been named Hennepin Division Assistant Principal of the Year, and now is Assistant Principal of the Year for the entire state! Kim is in her 8th year at Rosemount High School. Ms. Budde provides leadership for our schools Fine Arts Programs, Assessments and several academic departments. She is extremely proud of our school's strong academic programs, as well as our large and award winning dance, choral and instrumental music programs!
Ms. Budde believes that at the heart of good schools are strong relationships! She has worked hard to emphasize positive relationship building at our school between teachers, students and the community. Over the past several years she has worked on a new partnership with Inver Hills Community College that helps students with college potential, enroll in college prepatory classes in grade 10 as well as college credit bearing courses in grades 11 and 12. These are Inver Hills Community Community College Courses, taught by Rosemount High School teachers, trained by the college, taught at Rosemount High School, taken by students who may not have enrolled in our school's traditional Advanced Placement or University of Minnesota's College in the School's Courses. Ms. Budde has also built a partnership with Normandale Community College, allowing our Multivariable Calculus and Linear Algebra students to earn college credit for these courses that are taken by students who have already completed Advanced Placement Calculus. Ms. Budde has also built relationships with local businsses and believes strongly in our faculty understanding the expecations business has for tomorrow's workers. The Rosemount Faculty has toured local businesses as part of their staff development work, looking for insights on how to weave the the needs of tomorrow's workers into the classroom curriculum. She has also worked with the local Chamber of Commerce to invite local businesses to visit our Career Center and share their needs for workers with students, just like colleges come to visit with students looking for a school. Of course Ms. Budde goes out of her way to work hard at building strong ties with the teachers, students and community members she serves every day.
Ms. Budde is a graduate of Rocori High School in Cold Spring, Minnesota. She has her Bachelors Degree in Music Education from the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire. Her Masters of Arts Degree is in Education from Saint Mary's University and her Specialist Degree is in Educational Leadership from the University of Saint Thomas. She started her career teaching instrumental music at Valley View Middle School for the Edina Public Schools. After seven years of teaching, she moved into administration at Edina High School. From Edina she moved on to the Lakeville Public schools as an administrator before joining the Rosemount High School Administrative Team.
