Joe Christman - 2014 TIES Exceptional Teacher Award Winner!

joe.christmanJoe Christman, Science Teacher at Rosemount High School, continues a rich tradition of RHS teachers being recognized for their professionalism, forward-thinking, and dedication to students. Mr. Christman has been selected for the 2014 TIES Exceptional Teacher Award. For 10 years, TIES has been honoring teachers who have had a positive impact on student learning through technology. This prestigious award was established to recognize teachers who model the best practices in their classroom and engage students in learning.

Mr. Christman was selected for displaying excellence in teaching that is on the leading edge of pedagogy and technology for the 21st century. He aggressively advocates for best practices to be incorporated into his classroom and creates curriculum, instruction, and assessments that move his science courses toward that aim. He is a leader in master teaching and conveys the utmost professional commitment to his students, colleagues and to the profession of education. He is creating innovative and dynamic student learning experiences that focus on learning targets and standards, incorporate a synthesis of pedagogy, content, and technology which scaffold toward mastery and ownership of knowledge and skill for all of his students.

Mr. Christman will be presented the award in a formal ceremony at the 2014 TIES Education Technology Conference - Make It Happen: Transforming Pedagogy with Technology. Mr. Brian Trussell, Science Teacher at Rosemount High School, is a former award recipient.
