Treasurer’s Report (by John Peters)
Started with a $3,000 balance in the account
Current balance is $14,122 (no major expenses in 2008)

            Last year we made:
$14-$15k from salt sales    
$8k sign renewals
Membership dues
Expenses
Equipment – balls and shirts
One coach
Scholarships
New grill
Like to keep between $3-$5k in the account

Signs
Last Spring parents contacted locals looking for new sign advertisement
Timing was too late
Looking for volunteers to help contact companies in October and November
Paul Lindemann has headed this up in the past.  Sales scripts are available.

Concessions
Will do concessions again this year (hotdogs, drinks and candy)
Contact NHS students to help with concessions
Will feed players hotdogs again this year after Varsity games

Coach Strey announced that John Kruegel will be on staff.  He will be throwing batting practice to Freshman, Sophmore and JV teams

            Coaching staff for 2009 season includes:

Coach Strey talked about the success of all of the Thunder baseball teams over the past summer.

Dates:
October 2nd: Player meeting either before or after school.  All players need to attend one meeting.  Salt sale information will be distributed.

October 6th -10th:  Returning JV and Varsity players will meet individually with Coach Strey.  Players and Coach talk about their roles on the team.

November 1st: Tentative salt sale date

December 1st: Winter workouts begin on every Monday, Wednesday and Fridays at 2:45.

Spring Break Trip:
Trip is offered to all JV and Varsity players from last year
Cost is approximately $1000/player
Possible dates are March 20th -25th or March 21st – 26th

Spring Tournament
Will be expanded to include 9th and 10th grade teams
Will be a four team tournament

Possible ways to spend money           
Batting cages (possible partnership with softball program)
Put turf down in cages
Purchase two new nets
Purchase wind break screens for outfield fence
Purchase tractor to drag fields, transport water and haul water to water fields

 

Salt Sale
Order forms distributed at October 2nd player meeting. 
Tentative date is November 1st
Jay is looking help to update forms with new information
Each player (excluding freshman) are expected to sell at least 50 bags at each sale
May look at increasing price of salt
Volunteers needed on day of salt delivery to help load salt into cars
Paul Lindemann will get a bobcat for that day
Will do a phone blitz for the salt sale in the Spring
Players meet at the school and call using a sales script
Last year made over $1000

No new business
