Technical Theatre is a group of students working behind the scenes. Before a show can begin, the techies build the set that the actors will perform on. Once the show begins production, we perform many different jobs. Some of the jobs include lighting, sound, and a backstage running crew. During the show, crew members will control the sound and lights from the control booth. There is also a crew backstage, which consists of a stage manager, mic wranglers, and shifters. When the theatre production is over everyone involved with the production takes apart the set (this is known as Strike). Then we start over with our next show.
Eastview High School is fortunate to have wonderful theatre spaces. The 650-seat Performing Arts Center is equipped with a fly loft and scene shop. The scene shop is equipped with a wide array of power saws and hand tools. Students can control lighting and sound from the theatre's control booth.
