Typical Timetable

• 3-4 weeks before publication: Story meetings are held
• 2-3 weeks before publication: Reporters conduct interviews, research, and write article(s), create cartoons, and/or take photos
• 2 weeks before publication: All submissions are due
• 10 days before publication: Layout begins for editors
• 2-3 days before publication: Paper sent to publishers

Please note: Special workshops may be offered over the course of the year for Lightning Press staff to learn or refresh on such areas as effective news writing and layout. Staff will be notified by e-mail of workshop dates; workshops are not mandatory.
