 Leaders INvested in Community

Leaders INvested in Community

LINC 101

What is it?
LINC 101 is a seven-week leadership development “course” that focuses on the traits of good leaders.  Each weekly 60-minute session will focus on a different characteristic (Goal Setting, Time Management, Initiative/Risk-Taking, Adversity, Integrity and Communication).  Six small groups of about ten students, led by an EVHS staff member and a junior/senior LINC Leader, will spend time exploring the traits and engaging in both discussion and self-reflection.  Pre-reading activities and post-session journaling complement the activities done as a small group.  A final large group culminating session (combining all seven small groups) gives each participant a chance to share their own leadership vision as well as speak with a panel of leaders in the EVHS community.

What’s in it for me?
Many opportunities to practice leadership skills exist at EVHS (including Service LINC, LINC Mentoring, NHS, Student Council, Arts/Athletic Captains, etc.).  The LINC 101 experience will give you a chance to explore and develop skills necessary to be effective in those roles.  It will also allow you a chance to surround yourself by other motivated individuals who see themselves as leaders (or future leaders) at EVHS.  Upon completion of the course requirements, you will earn .25 credit, which will appear on your EVHS transcript as Experience in Leadership: LINC 101.

So, how do I get involved?
Attend one of the informational meetings on (held throughout the year – dates TBD) for more info.  Then, simply fill out the online application.    Please indicate your availability (there will be several small groups meeting at various times throughout the week, in an attempt to meet the schedule needs of applicants).  Applicants will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.  Please read and complete the LINC 101 contract, which details the commitment participants will be asked to make upon entering the program.

What if I still have questions?

Ms. Jodi Hanson (in the Student Services office) can answer your questions.
