Whoever loved that loved not at first sight ... Christopher Marlowe

Romeo and Juliet, a very man and a nearly fourteen year old girl, fall in love at first sight. They are caught up in an idealized, almost unreal, passionate love. They are in love with love. Love does strange things to people. The lovers in this play stumble into it, full of hope and innocence. But they learn a hard lesson: that hopes can be ruined and innocence can be destroyed, in part by the very people they trust the most.

• The Major characters in Romeo and Juliet

Student Requirements:

1. Student will read the entire play in class volunteering to play various parts

2. Students will take a test over each Act in the play. 

3. Students will complete a chart comparing the play to the movie

4. Students will write a short paper analyzing one theme in the play

2. Utilize various modes of writing

3. Use elements of literature, other literature devices and personal experiences to analyze literature

4. Understand the impact of history on the arts
